Why diets failed you?

High protein, low carb diet failed. Proponents of high-protein/ low-carbohydrate diets talk about how protein-filled foods can leave you satisfied and satiated without adding dreaded carbs. The problem is, most of the weight loss on those diets are muscle and water weight not body fat. Your metabolism is fueled by muscle; fat slows down your metabolism and lean muscle mass boosts your metabolism.

You’re fat to lean muscle ratio is what dictates how efficiently your metabolism burns excess fat.

At Connect Circle, you’ll learn how to balance your meals with the proper amount of protein and carbohydrates. We focus on ensuring your body gets all of the nutrients it needs to fuel your metabolism so you can lose the weight and keep it off.

Low-Fat Diet Fail

Fat gets a lot of attention, and for many good reasons. The wrong types of fat can raise cholesterol levels in the blood, increasing a persons risk for heart disease. While some people have found success using low fat diets, there are many arguments about whether low fat diet is the best. It is very important to differentiate between different types of fats. There are three main groups of fats:

Saturated fats - these are generally known as bad fats, most commonly found in animal products like beef and dairy.

Unsaturated fats - these are generally known as good fats, and are found in plants, nuts and plant oils. They are two kinds of unsaturated fats.

  • Monounsaturated fats - help lower bad cholesterol and increase your healthy cholesterol.
  • Polyunsaturated fats - helps lower bad cholesterol, but too much can lower the good cholesterol that your body needs.

Trans fats - they are chemically modified fats that are created by adding hydrogen to liquid vegetable oils, which make them more solid. These fats are added to food to make them more shelf stable. Example, hydrogenated oils.

You see, fat ads flavor, fullness and texture to foods. In order to make low fat foods taste better, food manufacturers compensate for the reduced fat by adding more sugar. This in turn raises the glycemic index in these foods, increasing the glycemic load as well. The higher the glycemic load, the more likely your body is to store fat instead of burning it.

In our healthy lifestyle community, Connect Circle focuses on helping our members answer these questions and to help them understand the difference between good and bad fats, allowing you to make more informed decisions about your foods.

Low-Calorie Diet Fail

Calories, calories, calories; they are all around us. Whether it’s a cheeseburger, a hot fudge sundae, a blueberry muffin or an egg white omelette, we can’t escape them. That’s why many believe sure fire method to weight loss is cutting back on the number of calories consumed each day. However, keep in mind there is a reason experts call for most people to eat a 2000 cal diet. Food provides the body with the energy and nutrients it needs to function properly. That includes the fuel you need to lose weight.

NOT ALL CALORIES ARE EQUAL AND NOT ALL CALORIES ARE BAD

For example, if you compare:

  • A glass of orange juice has 110 calories and less than 1 gram of fiber.
  • A medium orange has 62 calories and 3 grams of fiber.

The less calorie restrictions encourage by these diets puts the body in a state of controlled starvation, which immediately inhibit your metabolism and impairs healthy functioning. Calories are not the enemy - they are simply a measure Of the energy you are consuming, what your body uses. Calorie provide the energy essential for health and fitness, helping to keep your muscle working, your mind focused and your heart beating. Restricting your fuel can keep you from reaching your weight loss goals. Instead it was dictating restrictions, connect circle helps you learn what food fuels your body in a healthy way, while helping you stay satisfied for longer.
